Specialist support

Support for children with special needs

Early development support (WWR) and special education at Wioska Przyjaciół.

If your child holds an opinion on the need for early development support (opinia) or a statement of the need for special education (orzeczenie), this page explains what support looks like here and where to start.

At Wioska Przyjaciół a child with special needs is part of the group together with peers. Specialist sessions are held mainly one to one, but during preschool hours, so there is no need to drive your child to therapy somewhere else in the afternoon. Outside those sessions the child takes part in group life just like every other child. Small groups help with this: we have two groups and 44 places in total.

Early development support (WWR)

We provide early development support

The preschool has an appointed early development support team. We work with children who hold an opinion on the need for early development support issued by a psychological and educational counselling centre.

Our specialists draw up an individual support programme for every child, based on the recommendations in the opinion.
Sessions are held mainly one to one, during preschool hours.
Sessions run for at least 6 hours a month.
WWR sessions are free of charge for parents. The fee for attendance and meals stays the same as for all other children.
Early development support covers children who attend our preschool.
Special education

We accept children with a statement of special educational needs

For a child with a statement we arrange special education in line with the recommendations set out in the statement.

An individual education and therapy programme (IPET) is drawn up for every child with a statement. Our special educational needs teacher prepares it.
The IPET is reviewed at least twice a year, and more often if needed.
The type and number of sessions follow the recommendations in the statement. One-to-one sessions run for at least 10 hours a month.
We run speech therapy, rehabilitation, corrective and compensatory sessions, educational therapy and sensory integration therapy, among others.
Support is provided by a special educational needs teacher, a psychologist and a speech therapist.
Therapy sessions take place during preschool hours, and outside them the child takes part in group life together with peers.

Contact with parents

Parents of a child covered by WWR or special education are offered at least two summary meetings during the school year. If a parent needs to talk more often, we arrange it. Meetings also take place at the therapist’s initiative whenever there is a need.

Two different documents

Statement and opinion: what is the difference

These are two different documents and parents often confuse them. Both are issued by a psychological and educational counselling centre.
